Owls and friends

I have recently decided that I think owls are the cutest things ever (next to monkeys) I also love pink so imagine my delight when I noticed that Adournit has a owl line of fabrics that is pink!!!! I of course had to buy it and I received it all tonight (so exciting, I am still however waiting for other fabric that I ordered in June...sad). Here are some pictures

A cute panel. Amri and Lucy are helping me show this :)

 So cute!
 Notice Lucy's cute little paws.

Pretty Lucy! And lots of cute owls.
 A layer cake
Charm pack!

I am so excited about all of this fabric, I think that it may become the quilt for my bed (Wouldn't that be swell babe?). So excited to start cutting!

My friend Chandra is so sweet and she gave me my birthday present today (We havent' seen each other since my birthday). Here are some pictures!

Notice the yarn and needles and the one that says create! I am in love with this!!!
So pretty! Chandra's cousin makes these, so talented!

So overall today was an exciting day!

Hope things are amazing

Epicness

In the two years that I have been on the gluten free diet I have not had wings in a restaurant..or really any decent wings at all. Imagine my delight when my friend Rose informed me that the Voodoo Lounge has a wide array of gluten free wings!!! I didn't believe it so I called ahead and was told that there are about 50 flavors of gluten free wings there and they had a dedicated gluten free deep fryer!!! Thankfully I have some amazing friends who were willing to drive across the city so that I could eat too! I think I ordered 40 wings, (disgusting I know, I probably ate 30..HOWEVER I had not had wings in 2 years so please don't judge!!). I ordered Chipotle BBQ, Butter Chicken, Voodoo and another flavour, can't remember which one right now! Here are some pictures of the damage.

 All 8 flavours lines up!
The Bones!!

Another exciting development is happening in my house! Amri (my Bitch cat as I lovingly call her) doesn't hate Mike as much as normal!!! Here are two pictures of him being allowed to pet her for 2 minutes...at which point she remembered her meanness and swatted at him :( (Thankfully Mike is an animal lover, who is patient and knows how much I love my little(huge) Amri).

I really like pretty things lately, and I almost died when I saw these sweet little cups at Dollarama! Aren't they the sweetest little things ever! I bought 6, so now I need to have a coffee or tea party!

Wow, this is a catch up blog post hey!

Today was the baby shower for BR's new little baby, so obviously I took this as an opportunity to bake cupcakes!! I made two kinds.
Above are the triple chocolate ones, very yummy!
This is the start of the German Chocolate ones I made using my cute little cupcake thing, those red things make a hole in the cupcakes so that you can "stuff" them with something.
For these ones I made a pecan/coconut filling and frosted them with some whipped chocolate ganache and some shredded coconut. My friend BR texted me after eating hers and advised me that they were the "best cupcakes ever" which is a HUGE compliment because she is an incredible baker, her delightful and talented at baking sister asked me to set aside a second for her so I am very proud of myself. (Don't worry Mike, there is one in the fridge for you :) ).
Here is the final product for BR's present! So cute and it went over smashingly.

Such a cute idea right, not my idea but so cute I had to share!

Hope y'all are good!

Sweet Lord these are good!

I cannot for the life of me find a decent gluten free bun, bread yes...buns...nope :( Mike asked me last night if I wanted to go to a BBQ tomorrow, I always like BBQ's but they make me sad because the buns I can eat are gross. So I decided to take matters into my own hands...and bake some! I recently bought a book called "Gluten free cupcakes" by Elena Amsterdam; in this book there was a recipe for garlic cheese muffins. I decided that I would tweak this recipe and try to make buns with it instead.

Here is the recipe

1 1/4 cup Almond flour
1/4 tsp sea salt
1 tsp xanthan gum
1 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp olive oil
2 eggs
garlic (to taste)
Cheese (to taste)
tbsp of water.

pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees. Mix dry ingredients, whip egg and olive oil and add this to the dry mixture. I added a bit of water so the mixture wasn't so thick. Add garlic and cheese and mix well. Then I shaped the buns and put them on a cookie sheet that I sprayed with Pam.

I baked these until a toothpick came out clean, around 20 minutes.

Here are some pictures.

These are so good, now they don't have the texture of normal break but they aren't dry and heavy like most gluten free bread...and the flavour...I am in heaven! Totally worth baking when it's 30 degree's out...so hot!!

Upgrading!

Today was an exciting today, because today I was able to bid farewell to my old, yellow, 1970's, duct taped, wood paneled stove and fridge! I am loving the look of the new appliances so much that I want to cook my little butt off (or on, depending on who eats all my cooking....that's a hint to my sexy boyfriend to come help me eat ; ) )...

Here are some pictures!
I sent this picture to the boyfriend so he could be excited about the fact that my new appliances were here!
This fridge is so much bigger then the old one!!

It looks empty, It looks like a bachelor fridge...this stuff was in the old fridge and filled it right up!
Here is a pic of the stove, not all set up yet...
OH! MK tested the stove once it was set up, this thing gets stupid hot in like 5 seconds...I forgot to buy a range hood thing...which I need to get ASAP as I anticipate that I will burn a lot of things while I get used to the awesome heating power of this stove....notice the flat top...makes me drool.
So I go to plug my new stove in and realize that the morons (I mean previous owners) of my place put the plug thing in backwards...in order to plug the stove in I would have to crunch the cord..not something I wanted to do, so I had to flip the outlet 180 degree's to allow for it to work. I texted this problem and this picture to Mike and he said "well plug it in the other way", my response was slightly snotty..."I"m not dense baby, I cant plug it in the other way, I have to flip the outlet but all the wires are tight and I don't want to break it". I think he was impressed that I, #1, knew how to turn off the breaker and #2 knew what was wrong and how to fix it, in fact he called me awesome... and then said he would come over after work to take care of it :) Shortly after my dad called and I explained my hesitation with pulling to hard on the wires, he assured me that they would turn, and not to worry about breaking it so the outlet is now flipped and the stove is plugged in! (Yay super Kass). AND my old range hood is removed because my boyfriend is smart and knows how to remove it...I couldn't figure it out.
While I was unable to plug in my stove I became very hungry and needed supper, however I had no stove so I had to nuke something. Luckily I had this on hand...so simple and easy and quick and yummy AND gluten free!!!

Other than my stove drama I knitted and relaxed today, I am currently re-going through cook books and picking out recipes!

Hope your Saturday was good!

TGIF!

Sorry it has been so long since I have blogged...this week was so busy that I honestly didn't have time. However that does not mean that I wasn't creating!!

I decided last Saturday to make a purse, and as per usual I went with one of the hardest patterns I could find...a reversible purse from the Moda recipe website :)

Here are some pictures.

So there is my reversible purse, I think it's quite cute...however, it is way to small for my liking, so will likely be retired soon :)

On Wednesday I went to needle works to take an applique class, I need to learn how to applique so that I can make an epic quilt for my friend D's baby that is due in October. I really enjoyed the class and I have big plans for future applique projects (cute little owls perhaps...I have also decided that I LOVE owls :))

This weekend I may work on D's baby's quilt and work on knitting a baby blanket for my friend J's baby (My friends seem to all be pregnant :) ) I am also hoping to meet by friend B's sweet little baby boy who was born on Tuesday!!! (The recipient of the Giraffe and Blanket).

Hope you all had a good week!

I am in love with vintage!

I posted earlier that I am re-decorating my bathroom. I have decided that the theme is going to be a romantic vintage theme. I could not find anything to hang up as art, other then those cute little vase and bird wall decals. However today I had the best idea in the world, I was going to put fabric in picture frames!!! When I told the bf this idea he couldn't envision it and said something along the lines of "that sounds neat".

The first time I went to fabricland I saw some sparkly fabric that I fell in love with but I couldn't figure out what I would do with it so I hadn't bought any yet....however if I pare the two things together....Brilliance! Here are some pictures!

I absolutely love how these turned out. I tried to do 3 bigger ones for the other wall but I am not happy with one of them so I wont post about them until I am! What do y'all think?

Caution...extreme cuteness inside.

I love knitting (I also know that you know that). I also really love knitting for people I love. I have been talking able the Giraffe that I am knitting for baby R for awhile...and now I am done! I purchased Susan B Anderson's book "Itty Bitty toys" in order to make this Giraffe, I changed the pattern a bit, since I am making it for a baby I skipped the Pom Pom's (and because I cannot make a decent looking one no matter how hard I try). I love the way this little (big) Giraffe turned out! Enjoy the pictures!

This is to give you some idea of how big this "itty bitty" toy is.
Making spots! I love the color of my nail polish.
I love the "baby hair" instead of the mane..so cute! It was beautiful in Calgary today so I knitted on my patio all afternoon.
 Giraffe in my "Knitting purse"

So cute! I am in love with this pattern!
