Weddings are amazing

I had the honour of attending the wedding this weekend of my kindred spirit and her prince charming. It was a gorgeous wedding, I thought the decor was incredible, I had to take some pictures to share with y'all!

This was a pretty random flower in the middle of a bunch of weeds at confederation park.
Long walk to the ceremony, mama didn't raise no fool, I brought flip flops!
 So pretty!
 Heels are back on!

Seating chart, such a good idea!
 Beautiful tables
 The cake
They decorated these chandeliers; so pretty
The wedding favours were cards, brilliant!
 pretty!
Blurry, but these were little heart charms on the wine glasses.
 Gift/guest book table.

I love the monogram M as the cake topper, so sophisticated and pretty.
I also love Mike, such a nice kiss!

Hope you guys had a great weekend too! And thanks K and C for the invite, I love you guys!

Making the cut!

Hey!
I wanted to update y'all on the (tiny) progress that I am making on one of my projects! I have finally started working on the quilt that I am making for my friends who are getting married in September! I even ironed all the fabric (apparently a must in quilting). Here are some pictures!

 All the fabric pre-cut!
I had to separated the fabrics into "Light" and "Dark" piles... (The friends I am making this for have already seen this picture so me posting this is okay).
Don't they look so pretty all cut up and perfect! Mike was commenting on how perfect the squares were while I was working on it! I just have to cut up the white fabric (and buy more) and then I am ready to start sewing! Which is super exciting!
Today was 30 degrees in Calgary, so warm and lovely, all three of my girls look hot though don't they? Tasha is the puppy, Amri is the dark grey kitty and Lucy is the one you can only slightly see behind the table! If Mike's pup Charlie was in this picture it would be perfect!
Have you ever fallen in love with a piece of jewelry? I was shopping with Mike and I fell in love with this necklace, which is weird because I don't love bronze/gold usually, but I die for this! Isn't it the prettiest!

I am a little sad cause I have to go back to work tomorrow after two weeks off...however I have to pay the bills. Thank God I love my job hey!

Hope you guys had an amazing weekend!

Where I am today.

Today is the last work day of my holiday and I have to work for a few hours. I am not super happy about this but I am excited because what I need to do today is the best part of my job, so it will be good.

I had a great vacation overall and I am quite relaxed and ready to take on work and all of its crazy busy days. I was hoping to get more quilting done then I did these past two weeks, in face, I haven't touched it....which is scary cause one of the quilts is for a wedding gift for a wedding I am attending on the 3rd. However EB is sweet and I am sure she will be okay with the quilt coming after her honeymoon! :) (Right?!).

However I did get a lot done on Johnny's little blanket, here is the updated picture.

I am almost half way through the 4 set of blocks! This little blanket is super labour intensive, but so worth it because it's gorgeous!

Another project that I finished was the bench for little Tasha to use to get in an out of bed. Here are the pictures for that (I can't take full credit though, my dad cut the wood and routered the edges and Grandpa helped with stapling the fabric a little bit :)

I had to figure out how to spray paint the legs without making a huge mess, so I fastened them to a cardboard box!
Brilliant hey! Mike was proud :)
My dad let me use a drill AND a stapler thing that is hooked up to the compressor, this has never happened in my 27 years of existence, I am normally banned from power tools...
All done, certainly not professional but "Good enough" as Mike said, he also loved the fabric, said it was perfect and so "you". We have renamed it "plum camo" just in case it's ever in a room he calls his own in the future.
 Perfect match hey!
It works!!! A little wobbly but I might Velcro it to the bed or something :) I think it looks just perfect!

I think I may start quilting tomorrow morning...Maybe? At the very least I will iron the fabric! (Mike make me do this tonight after dinner please, your little lady needs some motivation).

Hope things are delightful in your world!

Celebrations!

Hello all!

Today is a very exciting day, today is my 1 year quitsmokingaversary! I am really happy that I was finally able to kick the habit this time! My friend Brit and I (and her little man) went out for lunch today to celebrate! Of course we went to Stonehill restaurant off of Harvest Hills Blvd in Calgary. I love the food there, I especially love that I can get gluten free, amazing food there too. Here is what we had!

This is a citrus and spinach salad, it was good, I would have liked it better without the grapefruit though...

This is a Mushroom and baby back rib penne...this was amazing.
This is the truffle oil and three cheese mac and cheese, this was to die for..
Finally, this is a flourless almond chocolate torte. Britt and I both moaned when we took the first bite, it was incredible!

I love when a restaurant can take gluten free and make it amazing. I will remain a regular for a long time to come (hopefully).

Lots started, nothing done!

Hey all;

Isn't this pretty, I am getting excited to decorate for Christmas, not until after Remembrance day though...WAIT. I will be in Vegas from the 12th to the 16th of November....(someone will watch my house and I have an alarm just in case you were plotting :) ) so I guess I will have to decorate earlier....Darn ;).

I digress. On to my blog post for the day!

I am really enjoying my time away from work and am busy crafting away like usual! However I have lots of projects started and nothing close to done! Here is my list of shame (soon to be glory)

1. Home made bench for the foot of my bed, I bought all the materials for it today and I am going to start painting it tomorrow, then I hope to have it done on Thursday when I go hang out with my Dad and Grandpa :)

2. Refinished suitcases; I am waiting for the paint on the suitcases to "cure" and by then I am hoping that I have found the perfect fabric to refinish the suitcases with...

3. "Little Johnny's Blanket", I am done the 3rd set of blocks...so I have 4 rows of blocks left, then I need to knit the boarder and sew it all together. I also think I am going to hand sew a backing onto the blanket to hide the "wrong" end of the blanket.

4. Epic baby quilt, I am still too intimidated to cut into the fabric...hopefully soon cause the baby is due in October.

5. Quilt number two, I have most of the materials, and might start ironing the fabric and cutting tomorrow!

6. My smooshy goodness knitted blanket! I started this one in December 2010, however, I find that I craft for others before myself...so it sits.

7. My chunky cowl; see above for excuses...

8 and 9. 2 knitted blankets....I am aiming to have these done by Christmas...maybe?!

10. Girly quilt, I have all the materials, I just need to start sewing

11. Quilt for my bed, made with the "Life's a Hoot" line from adournit. See numbers 6, 7 and 10 for explanations...

WOW

I have a lot of work ahead of me...I hope to be able to update you about these projects soon, I also hope I don't get distracted by other projects...(I am already eyeing a Christmas wall hanging and a knitted Santa and Cupcake...).

Wish me luck.

Do you guys have tons of projects on the go, or am I the only one?

Vacation day 1 and 2

I love love love being on Vacation, it's my favorite thing ever, it's even better when Mike is also off! So far we have had a good vacation so far (he seems to agree). Here is what we have been up to so far.

Saturday
UFC at Boston Pizza with some friends.

Sunday
I went to church, he went to the dog park
then we went garage saleing, (He bought tools, I bought books)
Watched Harry Potter years 1 and 2.

Monday
Watched Harry Potter year 3, 4, 5, and 6 (Long movie day)
took the girls to the dog park for a nice long walk.
I knitted my "Little Johnny's Blanket" all day, finished an entire row of block, here is a picture of it now :)

Isn't it cute! I can't wait until it is done, although it's going to take forever because it ends up hurting my hands and I have to take breaks, although it's so pretty and I love it so it's worth the pain!

Tuesday
Mike and I went to Nanton, Alberta for some antiquing, and sight seeing. We went to the Air Museum there (battery's died in the camera so I don't have pictures :( ). We also went to the museum of miniatures... I love miniatures  so I loved this. Here are some pictures.

The little carrot is so cute!
It's kinda blurry, but very pretty in person.

Mike enjoyed pressing the big red button, I think he felt like he was being bad...until the carousel started spinning.

Mini sausage and eggs!!! So cute.
 Look at the little watermelon!
And the cutest things in the museum, obviously. (there were no small children so I can say this with confidence)

So far it has been an amazing vacation! I cant wait for the rest of it.

August long weekend!!!

I love camping, well what I call camping anyway. This weekend I went camping in Brooks with my family. It was a very calming and fun weekend overall. I was able to finish the first set of squares for "little johnny's blanket" that I am making for my friends baby.

Here is a picture of it.

Isn't it pretty, I am loving it so far, although it will take a long time to finish...I only have 4 more row's of blocks left!!! (LOL)..

I love my flip flop tan, it amuses me immensely, so her is a picture of it so you guys can be amused as well.

Here is a picture of my amazing boyfriend and I, he was supposed to come to Brooks on Sunday evening but he surprised me by coming that morning instead. So we spent the day napping, chatting, tanning and eating yummy food! It was a delightful surprise.
Here is a picture of my dog Tasha looking out her window in the tent. Poor Tasha had a rough weekend. She developed a bladder infection this weekend...so she had to go to the vet...poor little baby, however she seems to be doing better now and she got some special cookies and extra cuddles...
Here is the view from our campsite, amazing! I love camping in Brooks, it's hot hot hot and everyone we camp with is amazing!

Hope you had a great weekend as well!
