I have started sewing.

I have learned that I should listen to my boyfriend when it comes to sewing machines. We went to Montana this spring and while I was buying the Singer "pixie" he warned me that I wouldn't like it and that I would end up replacing it, I teased him about knowing more about sewing machines then I do and bought the pixie. This Sunday I opened and set up the Pixie and then texted the BF and advised him that he was indeed right, and that this machine was not what I needed.

The next day I went and bought a new sewing machine with quilting features, its so pretty and I think it should work for what I need it to do (as long as I can figure it out). Here is a picture of my pretty little sewie...
isn't she pretty! I am very excited to start quilting on this one!

I finally started cutting!

I have recently become interested in quilting, it is truly amazing what people can do these days, so I went and bought a quilting kit from Wal-Mart, with my favorite little man W in mind :) However the kit has sat for sometime un-cut, partly because the size of blanket it would make is to small and partly because I was scared to start. So I went and bought some extra fabric, threw out the original pattern, designed one myself and started cutting, then I started placing things here and there and piecing it all together; currently the pieces are pinned to the batting...(I am not brave enough yet to start sewing)...and my friend J is giving me a lesson before we go to the quilting exhibition today!

Perhaps I will start sewing this afternoon?

Here are the pictures I have so far, I think it's going to be amazing and it will be big enough to follow him well into a twin bed!

So there it is, I will keep you updated on the progression of the quilt.

Dear Lord this place is amazing!

My friend B recently told me about an amazing restaurant that she went to with her husband, she was excited to tell me because it is ridiculously gluten free friendly, they even have a gluten free cheesecake!!! So B and I set a girl date for today to go and check it out, it's in Calgary where the old "Flight Deck" was, it's called the Stonehill Restaurant....

Initially I was struck by the beauty of the restaurant (and I only saw the Tavern), it's gorgeous, with dark wood and high ceilings, stunning, even the bathroom was pretty. Our server was amazing and very friendly and I was shocked with how many options I had that were gluten free. B was very sweet and ordered her mushroom and arugula flat bread gluten free so I could try it too, I had the Penne Chorizo Bolognese and Parmesan cheese.  It was amazing! Here is a link to the menu! http://stonehillrestaurant.com/uploads/file/Stonehill%20Tavern%20&%20Lunch%20Menu%20Jan%202011.pdf

I of course took some pictures!
I apologize, I forgot to wait and take a picture before I started eating!

So good, Couldnt' even tell it was gluten free :)

This cheesecake was amazing, I cant even describe it, best I have ever had easily.

I love this place, and I will be back again and again, I have actually booked my birthday dinner there...so excited!!!!

Even more suprises!!

So I was looking through my textbooks today and I noticed that in the sociology text book there is a class syllabus, a quiz and some hand written notes!!!! I think this is very cool, am I the only one?

Also, I FINALLY found Shirataki noodles, these are very low calorie/high fiber noodles that I have wanted to try for awhile, T&T had them here is the link to the website for the noodle makers if you want more information. http://www.house-foods.com/tofu/tofu_shirataki.aspx I am really excited to try these and I will be letting you know how they are, I will probably use a recipe from this cookbook
You can't actually click the picture to order from here, but I got my book at Walmart, Amazon and Chapters sells it too.

I also purchased the ingredients for Maple Bacon Chocolate cupcakes today....I will let you know how those turn out as well, the boyfriend has been requesting desserts with bacon added...so being the AMAZING girlfriend I am I will make these!!!

I work hard for my money...

I love my job, it's pretty amazing and I feel blessed to do it everyday. My job does bring me out of time occasionally, which I love cause it's a nice way to explore. Today I was in Nanton, I love Nanton, it's my favorite place to go for work right now. The boyfriend always wants me to go here when I go to Nanton...

However I think I will make that stop when he's with me, I would enjoy it more that way. I tend to do some shopping when I am there. I went to this cute little shop today!
It was so cute, there was ton's of super old and cool stuff there, however, I love books, anyone who knows me knows that, I especially love textbooks however, I found these two little gems at the Antique store...

So fun!!! Both were published in the 1960's, I cannot wait to dive into these delicious little treats (after Glee perhaps). Before I head back to work after my shopping break I always stop at the cutest little cafe, they are super gluten free friendly, so it's a pleasure and treat to support them...I would be a regular if I lived there for sure. All in all it was a great work day! Hope yours was great too!

It's Friday!

I am practically in love with Fridays, they are the most amazing day invented because tomorrow (and Sunday and Monday) I do not have to work. I am heading up to Edmonton to chill with my boo R, she's pretty awesome and a total foodie so I wanted to make something for her while I am there. I decided on a lemon lime and ginger snap cookie tart, the only problem was I couldn't for the life of me find a tart pan (like a pie pan but with cute little ridges and a bottom that lifts up to remove the tart easier). Then I went to Stokes, it is seriously my new favorite store ever, anything I need, they have it (cooking/baking wise). They have cute little quirky things too, I bought a little candle heated grill for camping, I was so proud cause I bought it purposefully for "real" camping, so I was pretty excited to show the BF, I am sure he was proud too, now if only I could rally myself up to pee in the woods....gonna be awhile.

Also while I am in Edmonton R and I are hitting up some gluten free stores there, Edmonton has Kinikinniks, which I love and Ed's gluten free store, which sells black forest cake cupcakes...I am in love with those...

Overall my weekend is going to be amazing, I hope y'all have a safe and awesome one too

Gluten free makes me happy.

I can't eat gluten, if I do I get sick and grumpy and headachey and foggy...it's not pretty, and I like being pretty...so I don't eat gluten.

Gluten free food is expensive though, about $6.50 for a loaf of bread, and I find myself going all over the city to get what I need...because of this inconvenience I was delighted to find out that Safeway was taking an interest in their Celiac customers, they have gluten free sections in some stores now!!! I went and checked them out today, and this is what I found.

They had more items then normal and it was a little cheaper, so that makes me happy...not really ground breaking news that will transform my life, but handy if I am in the area :) (Thanks Rose).

While at Safeway I picked up a Mocha Coconut Latte...amazing....go get one.

Speaking of amazing, I was listening to the song "Indian Outlaw" by Tim McGraw, amazing song, yummy man, and I am now inspired to watch American Outlaw's this weekend with my friend R when I go visit her in Edmonton, I am super excited about this, I think we need to rent a few "Yummy Guy" movies and drink wine and eat the tart I am making for her and call it perfection! I am so excited to see her and chill.

Smoshy goodness~

I love knitting, it's calming and productive, and when I knit for someone specific I feel like every stitch is an act of love...(cheesy I know). I also love my friend B, she's incredible, a loving and wonderful woman, amazing mother of a wickedly cool kid (I) and soon to be an amazing mother of her second child. I also love babies, so I decided to knit B's baby a blanket. I chose Lion Brand's homespun yarn, it's smooshy and soft and drapes nicely. B and her hubby are going for a Safari theme in the nursery so I choose a green, beige and brown combo for the blanket. It's simple but I think it will be perfect for feeding times, a nice everyday kind of blanket :)

Don't you just want to cuddle it!!! I can't wait to see Baby R snuggled in this little blanket, now onto his little giraffe... more to come.

Big night in Kassy land

I have always loved Boston Rob, ever since his first time on Survivor, I even quit watching last season when he was voted off....Delighted, that's how I felt when I found out that he would be playing the game again...Elated....that's how I feel now that I know that he has made final 3!!! Anyway...enough about Survivor.

So I figured I would start a blog, about everything that matters to me. Life is amazing recently and I wanted to share that with people. I hope you enjoy.

ps: Phillip makes me laugh out loud, all the time. His great grandfather sounds badass.
